Can't withdraw your pension fund or file a claim? EPFO services are not available for 7 days. The portal remains unavailable although an official notification states that services will be restored by 00:00 on July 2. The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has temporarily suspended several online services to carry out a planned database consolidation and software update aimed at improving the speed, reliability and security of its claims processing system.According to the official notice posted on the website, the migration is intended to “improve service delivery, increase processing efficiency and provide a better user experience.” As part of the upgrade, the EPFO is consolidating its database and updating the software used for claims processing. The outage began at 12am on 26 June and is reported to last until 11:59pm on 1 July, with services expected to be restored from 12am on 2 July. However, as of Thursday morning, the website was still displaying the message “System Migration Scheduled and Services Temporarily Unavailable.” Few people complained on social media about this issue and asked for updates. “The planned downtime has already passed, but the EPFO portal remains inaccessible. Thousands of users were affected. Please advise the reason for the delay and when services will be restored,” said one X user.During this “downtime,” members and employers are unable to log into the member interface or employer interface, making all online services through these portals unavailable. This includes filing new EPF claims, claims processing, e-passbook access, electronic claim-return (ECR) filing, UAN linking for new employees and other digital services. Applications submitted before the start of the migration period will be processed once services resume.

Center notifies new EPF scheme 2026 with digital reforms

Even as disruptions continue separately, the Center has notified the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Scheme 2026, which replaces the 1952 system with immediate effect. The new scheme retains the mandatory 12 percent contribution for both employers and employees, while introducing a more digital and compliance-focused structure to support the implementation of labor codes.Key changes include simplified rules for partial withdrawals for illness, education, marriage and housing, mandatory submission of Aadhaar, PAN and Aadhaar-linked bank account details for digital processing, and enhanced compliance requirements for employers including e-registration and property disclosure. The scheme also introduces three initiatives – Recruitment Campaign 2026, VISHWAS 2026 and AMNESTY 2026 – to help address past compliance gaps and address legacy issues. This preserves the connection between two events without suggesting a cause-and-effect relationship that has not been established.Read Full Story: Essential Things to Know About Contributions, Withdrawals and Aadhaar Details
