In a conversation with JioStar, Alexander Zverev spoke about his form ahead of the 1/8 finals match:
“In some ways, yes, I feel like I’ve played very well so far at this Wimbledon. I’ve found my rhythm on grass, which isn’t always easy. I’ve been able to give it my all in every match and I want to keep it that way. The confidence is there and I’m enjoying the conditions. I just want to keep playing my best tennis and give myself the best chance to win the next match. Every round is getting harder, but I’m ready for the challenge.”
On how winning the French Open boosted his self-belief and made him feel he could do the same at Wimbledon:
“I waited so long to win my first major and it happened at the French Open. I’ve had a lot of heartbreak along the way, but once you do it once, you feel like you can do it again. Focused on playing my best tennis. Every match is a new opportunity and I want to make the most of it.”
On the challenge before the meeting with Jiri Legecka:
“I have a very difficult task in the round of 16 against Jiri Legecky. He’s playing fantastic tennis so far and is a player who can hit the court. He serves well and gets the ball early, so I know it’s going to be a battle. I think it’s going to be the toughest test I’ve faced in this tournament and I’m looking forward to it. These are the matches you play. I’m ready to go out there and compete.”
