Prime Video has set the premiere of the Muhammad Ali limited series The Greatest for Wednesday, November 4th. The date was announced Saturday during a presentation at the Essence Festival of Culture featuring creator, showrunner and executive producer Ben Watkins, star Jaalen Best and actors Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, Kai Parham and Michael Ealy. The streamer also released the first teaser, which you can see above.
Greatest, The film, starring Best as Ali, is being billed as an in-depth exploration of the incomparable life of the boxing champion, humanitarian and global icon.
The executive producer is Lonnie Ali, widow of the late boxing legend. Greatest this is the first authorized script about Ali’s life. The eight-part series will chronicle defining moments in Ali’s life and career, both in and out of the ring.
Along with Watkins’ Blue Monday Productions (Cross) and Michael B. Jordan’s The Outlier Society. Creed Franchise is from Authentic Studios, Roc Nation, Polygram Entertainment, a partner of Universal Music Group, and Grace: A Storytelling Company, with Watkins serving as showrunner and executive producer. Outlier Society President Elizabeth Raposo serves as executive producer, with Authentic Brand Group’s Corey Salter, Mark Rosen and Matthew Gross also serving as executive producers.
