Anyone with plans to spend time outdoors this week may want to reconsider their decision as the National Weather Service has issued a heat warning for the Phoenix area. The warning is in effect Tuesday through Thursday and temperatures could reach 116 degrees.
National Weather Service meteorologist Sean Benedict says to plan ahead.
“Obviously the heat will be worst during daylight hours. So if you can, try to take advantage of the early morning and late evening if you’re going to be doing any outdoor activities,” he said.
Benedict also recommends staying hydrated and wearing light clothing.
Transportation to free cooling centers and other resources in Maricopa County is available by calling 211.
