Dan Fogler plays Ser Torrhen Manderly in House of the Dragon season 3

House of the Dragon It’s a show with an extensive cast, and it just got a little bigger. The third episode of the third season is unique in that it focuses almost entirely on the early days of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s reign over the Seven Kingdoms. From handling the petitions of the common people to carrying out the plans devised by her enemies and gathering the corrupted nobles, Rhaenyra definitely has her work cut out for her. Luckily for her, a new character has joined the team who can help her a little in these endeavors.

During one of the episode’s most memorable scenes, Rhaenyra invites a group of nobles to the Red Keep for a feast. However, unbeknownst to these lords and ladies, the menu consists entirely of cooked rats – an example of what the common folk were forced to eat during the war, while those gathered hoarded extra food. The Queen announces that their storerooms will be confiscated by the crown for redistribution. Leaving the shocked aristocrats to their horror, Rhaenyra encounters a man who is more amused than annoyed: See Torren Manderly. He only congratulates her on a move well played, even though it means that some of his own food supplies will be confiscated like everyone else’s.

Although Torren only received a small amount of screen time in the third episode, he will soon become an important new addition to Team Black. Let’s talk about the role it plays. Fire and bloodand how it may differ for House of the Dragon.

How Ser Torren Manderly helps Rhaenyra in Fire and blood?

The introduction of Ser Torrhen and his older brother, Ser Medric Manderly, is slightly different in George R.R. Martin’s source material. In the book, these two knights and the eldest sons of House Manderly travel south thanks to an agreement Jaquerys Velaryon made with their father, Lord Desmond Manderly, who was heading north to negotiate with Cregan Stark. Jace negotiates a marriage contract between his younger brother Joffrey and Desmond’s youngest daughter, and in exchange the Manderlys fight on the Black side in the war.

After Rhaenyra captures King’s Landing, Torrhen and Medric Manderly sail south and take their place as queen’s advisors. Torrhen is a strong, intelligent man who keeps a close eye on the kingdom’s finances and has a reputation for impartiality in his affairs. It’s important to note that they give Rhaenyra some advice after the First Battle of Tumbleton, which leads to more heartache for Team Black, so while the Manderlys do help Rhaenyra, they also lead her to some misfortune.

Torren is one of the few major players to survive the Dance of the Dragons. He eventually became Lord of White Harbor and Hand of the King for the time of Rhaenyra and Aegon II’s successor.

Who is Torren Manderly? House of the Dragon?

Obviously, we don’t know if any of the events listed above will play out in the HBO series. House of the Dragon. Torren’s introduction is quite different; Instead of specifically going south to help Rhaenyra thanks to the pact with Jace, he, for some reason, already ended up in the capital. It’s safe to assume that we’ll see more scenes between him and the Red Queen due to her scheming over this reserved noble knight at her court. But whether he will give her the same advice remains to be seen.
