While I expect England to win, Thomas Tuchel has a few decisions to make regarding his team.
Whoever plays at right-back will have to deal with Julian Quinones, who is one of Mexico’s dangerous players, having scored three goals in this World Cup.
Tuchel could gain more defensive stability if he played Jed Spence, but England would likely lose a bit going forward. This is an area to keep an eye on no matter who is playing.
The same applies to the flanks, where he continues to change players.
On the left, I think Anthony Gordon did enough when he came on against DR Congo to guarantee his place in the starting line-up this time around, but I’m less confident that Noni Madueke or Bukayo Saka will get the nod at right-back.
However, one area that I would not change is the center of midfield. I wouldn’t even think of Declan Rice coming in at right-back and that’s where he finished against Congo because he gives us such good balance in the middle with Elliot Anderson and Jude Bellingham.
However, whichever team Tuchel chooses, we will have to start the game much faster than against DR Congo.
If we start slow and go downhill again, it will be very difficult for us to come back.
