MLC 2026, LAKR vs MI NY, 20th match, match report, July 4, 2026

Michigan New York 168 from 4 (Pollard 63*, Anderson 37*, Monank 32, Le Roux 2-39) win Los Angeles Knight Riders 165 for 6 (Trompe 44, Holder 43, Fletcher 34, Bosh 3-19, Ugarkar 3-43) for six wickets

Kieron Pollard scored an unbeaten 63 from 35 balls as MI New York chased down 166 against the Los Angeles Knight Riders, reclaiming top spot in MLC 2026 after the Washington Freedom briefly moved into first place with a win earlier on Saturday. MI NY joined Freedom with eight points but led in net run rate while the Knight Riders remained fifth in the points table. Earlier, Jason Holder’s 43 off 22 balls lifted LAKR to 165 for 6 after Matthew Tromp anchored the innings with 44 off 36. Tromp recovered from the early setback to share a 63-run stand with Andre Fletcher and put on 31 runs with Rovman Powell before Holder’s late outburst that included three fours and three sixes. But Corbin Bose’s excellent 3 for 19 kept MI NY in the competition, with Rushil Ugarkar also picking up three wickets of his own.

In pursuit, the New York Department of Internal Affairs had to work hard. Quinton de Kock fell in the second over and Nicholas Pooran struggled before departing for 23 balls 16, leaving them on 38 for 2. Monank Patel steadied the innings with 32, but when he fell in the 12th over and Tajinder Singh’s entertaining cameo ended three balls later, MI NY were 80 for 4 and still needed 86 from 49 deliveries.

Pollard then took charge with a few quiet innings of the tournament. He hit six fours and two sixes, while Corey Anderson provided perfect support with 37 not out 24. Their unbroken 88-run partnership for the fifth wicket brought the team closer to the target before they ended the chase with one ball to spare. This was their third consecutive victory in this tournament.
