Two suspected shoplifters were arrested at a Costco store Sunday after allegedly trying to use fraudulent credit cards to steal merchandise, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. in South Windsor, Connecticut, the South Windsor Police Department (SWPD) said Monday.

Police said the two are suspected serial shoplifters at Costco and identified them as Brittany A. Howard, 35, of the Bronx, New York, and Kashim M. Williams, 34, of Brooklyn.

“Officers responded to Costco (1220 Tamarack Ave) for reports of two shoplifters who were actively stealing from the store and attempting to use fraudulent credit cards at the self-checkout register,” SWPD said.

Store employees were alerted that the same suspects were allegedly attempting a similar scheme at a Costco store in Enfield, about 30 minutes north, authorities said.

Responding officers later found 28 stolen financial documents, all under different names, in the suspects’ vehicle, as well as merchandise allegedly stolen from another Costco location, police said.
