Raising the retirement age: a key decision of the AP government. Raising the retirement age for everyone.

Retirement Age Increase: The Government of Andhra Pradesh has given good news to the 9th and 10th schedule employees, public sector organizations, corporates and various societies. The government has issued an official order to increase the retirement age from the current 60 years to 62 years. This solution will directly benefit thousands of employees.

According to the government decree, these new rules will come into force on January 1, 2022. Apart from regular employees, employees working in Public Sector Undertakings (PSEs), Corporations and Societies can now continue their service up to the age of 62 years. But the government also provided benefits to workers who had already retired at age 60. Special concessions are provided to those who have the right to return to their duties. This will allow many previously retired employees to rejoin the services. However, the government has made it clear that wages for the break period will not be paid until they return to work.

The government has said full service benefits will apply to employees currently serving under court orders. Annual allowances will also be provided on a conditional basis. A positive decision has been made regarding the issue of seniority and career advancement for employees. The order states that the period of return to work will be taken into account when calculating length of service and promotion.

Otherwise, special rules will apply to employees who are already retired and receiving a pension. Those who do not wish to return to work are also given the option to continue working as pensioners at age 60. The government has directed officials to immediately issue orders related to this decision to public sector organizations, corporates and society. It appears that the government has responded positively to the long-standing demand of the workers’ unions and has taken this decision.
