Census forms have been printed in English for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area and in Telugu for the remaining areas. This is in response to requests from all political parties, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana said on Tuesday (June 30, 2026). He added that mock-ups of census forms have also been printed in Urdu to help the general public.
The forms are distributed as part of the State’s Special Intensive Review (SIR). From June 25, Booth Office Officers (BLOs) began visiting homes to distribute Census Forms (EF). This will continue until July 24th.
About 60% EF distributed
As of Tuesday, the state has a total of 3,38,26,448 general electors. This includes 1,67,60,643 male voters, 1,70,62,946 female voters and 2,859 transgender people. Till 2 pm on Tuesday (June 30, 2026), 2,02,32,055 EFs have been distributed, which is 59.81% of the total voters.
Voters in the state who received partially completed Telugu forms have sought help from others in filling out the details.
The Telangana High Court on Monday asked the Election Commission of India to consider a petitioner’s request to provide census forms during SIR of voter rolls in Urdu in constituencies where 20% or more of the population speaks the language.
Several Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) within GHMC limits said on Wednesday that forms in English have been distributed since the beginning of Special Intensive Review (SIR) and Telugu and Urdu forms are also available.
