Jannik Sinner, the No. 1 seed did not have his usual start at Wimbledon.
Remember, Sinner’s last match was at Roland Garros, where he lost to Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the second round in five sets on a warm Paris day.
In the first round of Wimbledon, Sinner needed to win in five sets against Miomir Kecmanovic. Perhaps surviving a close match will benefit Sinner as he looks to reignite his confidence.
But if this is the Sinner we’re about to see at Wimbledon, then he can definitely be beaten as he seeks his fifth Grand Slam.
His opponent today is Nuno Borges, a player with huge court coverage and a dominant goal game. This is the second time these two players have fought each other.
Sinner has a 1-0 record against Borges, having defeated him in 2022. A lot has changed since then, but it should be a competitive match.
