Extreme heat: Feeling 45 across Quebec in honor of Canada Day

The weather in early July will be particularly active, with a blistering heatwave sweeping across Quebec, where temperatures can reach 33°C, with temperatures reaching 45°C in some areas of the province’s south.

According to Environment Canada, a heat warning is in effect for most areas, including Abitibi, Estrie, Montreal, Saguenay, and in the north of the province.

By Saturday, the federal agency is forecasting daytime temperatures of 30 to 33 degrees Celsius and humidity levels of 40 to 45 degrees.

The weather will be hot overnight with lows ranging from 20 to 24°C in southern Quebec and 18 to 22°C elsewhere.

In Montreal and western Quebec, the government agency is forecasting a mix of sun and clouds with a mercury temperature of 33°C, with a humidity effect of between 41 and 45.

The weather will also be hot and rainy in the center of the province, where the mercury will reach 29-32°C and temperatures will reach 44.

In Eastern Quebec, the heat will likely be less intense under partly skies, but showers are expected in parts of Gaspésie and the North Coast.

On Thursday, the hot weather will continue with almost the same intensity, while the possibility of strong thunderstorms with occasional showers cannot be ruled out.
