Wolverhampton Wolves are expected to overhaul their goalkeeping squad this summer, with Jacob Wydell Zetterstrom expected to be on their radar. At least one of Jose Sa or Sam Johnston could go.
Fabrizio Romano told X that Wolves are eyeing Jacob Wydell Zetterstrom, who plays for Derby County.
Sa was the first choice for much of last season, with Johnston given an early chance before Sa returned to the starting line-up when Rob Edwards replaced Vitor Pereira. Both are 33 years old and earn high salaries.
Zetterström moved to Derby in the summer of 2024 from Djurgården and became one of the strongest players in the championship. He kept seven clean sheets in 33 appearances last season and impressed.
His save percentage was 71.43% in the Championship, which is higher than Sa and Johnston’s Premier League figures of 64% and 62% respectively.
He was called up to Sweden’s final World Cup squad and played against Japan. With good area control and agility, he also saved four penalties in the derby. At 27 years old, his profile could make sense if Wolves upgrade the position.
