Cara Delevingne spoke about her romantic relationship with Amber Heard in a new episode of the series. Louis Theroux Podcast.
Speaking to the British network about the latest episode, which aired in the US on Monday, Theroux asks the model who will star in Jordan Firstman’s upcoming breakout film at Cannes. Club kid – about the “affair with Johnny Depp,” hinting at rumors that Delevingne was involved with Heard while the latter was divorcing the A-list actor.
Theroux tells Delevingne that Depp is reportedly “crazy at the idea of Amber sleeping with you,” to which she replies, “I wanted to comment on that? It’s because we made a movie together and it was called London Fields. He also starred in the film. I think he went very crazy with jealousy. At this moment nothing happened. I guess this happened later, after they got divorced.
Theroux then asks for clarification on what that means. Delevingne responds that she and Heard “were close for a long time, and then when they were going through their divorce, yes, we were confused… But she was also involved with other people.” When Theroux says, “Well, with Elon (Musk),” Delevingne replies, “That’s it.”
Heard dated Musk, the trillionaire founder of Space X, until early 2018. She split from Depp in 2016 after marrying a year earlier, and they went head-to-head in 2022 in a landmark, highly publicized libel trial. Since then she has not acted in films.
Delevingne and Theroux touch on a wide range of topics in the episode, including her reticence about marriage after getting engaged and how she takes disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s comments “to heart.”
“Harvey Weinstein called me and asked, ‘Are you gay?’ – Delevingne recalls. “And I was like, ‘Um, what do you mean?’ And he said, ‘You should never get into a relationship with a woman… You’ll never make it in the industry if people think you’re gay,’” she continues. “And I really believed him, and I really took it to heart.”
Delevingne, a lesbian, told Theroux about her sexuality: “Well, I look back now and realize it was very obvious at a very young age. I knew it around 11 years old. I had one friend who I was like, ‘Oh, I think I care about her more than she likes me, and I don’t know how, but I do it.’ It was obvious now, but it wasn’t like that at all then, and now I’m very proud of it.”
“I think when I started talking about it and being open about it, I felt like at that point I still had something to fight for in terms of a show about gay people and people that younger kids should look up to.”
