And while the show doesn’t yet have a release date or a US distributor, we’ve already seen enough to be excited about it.
Imagine this. Schitt’s Creek star Emily Hampshire and FraserJess Salgueiro in a weird AF mockumentary style show about a losing softball team on a slow pitch? Sign us up now! We already love everything about it and haven’t watched a second of it yet.
The show is based on the web series of the same name, which aired on OutTV and in the US on IFC. The original web series was created by Jay Stevens, Gwenlyn Kamin and Karen Knox, who returned for the new adaptation. Jay Stevens serves as executive producer and director, with Gwenlyn Kamin and Karen Knox returning to write, produce and act.

What is Slo Pitch about?
The 10-episode show, which, like the web series it’s based on, will tell its story in a very common mockumentary format that we’re not used to thanks to shows like Office, Parks and Recreationand lately Abbott Elementaryunlike those shows, the action will take place in the world of sports, even if it is not professional sports. However, it is a women’s sport that we rarely see. Really, how we miss you A league of their own.
Slo-Pitch’s synopsis reads: “Welcome to the world of the beer league, where Joanne Pico will coach the six-time league losers Public Leiss Brewers. Coach Joanne is determined to turn things around this season, despite having just been brutally dumped by her friend and team co-founder.
Throughout the summer, Joanna leads her lovable, chaotic crew through a season of shutouts, petty rivalries, conservative sponsors, and sexy car wash fundraisers gone wrong. With her ex now playing on a rival team, Joanne has a lot to prove this season. It’s time to get over the breakup, get the gang back together, and maybe even find new love over beers in the dugout.”
When asked about the show’s presentation, Karen Knox simply replied, “Beer, lesbians and baseball.”
During a recent red carpet interview with Electronic conversation During the Bell Media Upfronts, stars Karen Knox, Jess Salgueiro and Emily Hampshire discussed being called “Heated rivalry for queer women” and said, “This is a little different. Fewer kissing scenes – here are a couple.”
“Well,” said Knox, “I’d say they’re as hot as the ones in Heated rivalry“
Color us in delight.
We then had a hilarious exchange, with Knox adding, “If you like hot dog breath, this is your makeup look.”
“Less casual, less six pack,” Salgueiro explained.
But Knox disagreed: “Less six packs, more sloppy.”
When will Slo Pitch be released?
No release date Slo Pitch for now, but the series’ official X page has confirmed that it will premiere in 2026. We also now know that the series will have 10 episodes and each episode will be around 30 minutes long.

The show wrapped filming in November 2025, so there’s a chance it won’t be released for a few months. But since 2026 has already been confirmed, there is a chance that we could get it before the end of the year.
Where can I watch Slo Pitch?
Just like Heated rivalryyou can watch Slo-Pitch on Crave in Canada. At the time of writing, the show does not have a US distributor. But hey Heated rivalry didn’t either until about a week before the show started airing. So, fingers crossed.
Who plays in the movie “Slo Pitch”?
The series features some familiar faces: Emily Hampshire and Jess Salgueiro. Karen Knox, Gwenlyn Kamin, Emma Hunter, Chelsea Muirhead, Lane Webber, Khadija Roberts-Abdullah and Amanda Cordner also star, and women’s softball legend Ayami Sato, the first woman to play in a Canadian men’s professional baseball league, makes a guest appearance. Other guests include Varun Saranga, Laura De Carteret, Don McLean Jr., Carolyn Taylor, Chris Locke, Chris Sandiford and Nadine Bhabha, who is also a writer on the series.
