Inspired by the success of in-game drink breaks at the World Cup, Formula One has announced it will introduce mandatory drink stops every four laps at this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix.

After approximately five minutes of intense wheelie racing, all Red Bull Ring riders will have to stop and recuperate with a cool, refreshing sponsor-approved drink.
โStopping the race 17 times may seem like an unnecessary measure that would disrupt the flow of racing,โ a Formula 1 spokesman explained. “But as FIFA has proven, it’s about creating the best possible environment for our sporting heroes to perform. The fact that this creates so many more promotional opportunities is a completely fortuitous side effect.”
The three-minute breaks will also give team managers the opportunity to give their riders tactical advice mid-race, such as: โHave you tried going a little faster, Lance?โ
Critics of the move point out that the Red Bull Ring, because it sits at an altitude of over 700 meters and is in the Alps, is not a particularly hot place.

“It’s all about principle,” the spokesman said. “The principle is that there is no element of sporting tradition that we cannot destroy on a whim. I mean driver comfort. Because without drivers there will be no show. These cars cannot drive themselves. At least not until 2028.”
FIFA’s inspiration won’t end with completely necessary hydration breaks.
โThey have demonstrated that with the right mindset there is virtually no limit to what a governing body can achieve. From a financial point of view,โ cooed the representative.
Thus, reflecting the success of the recently expanded World Championship, the 2027 Formula 1 season will feature 48 drivers competing in 48 races throughout the year.

โSport is good, and the more good it is, the better,โ the representative explained. “Is there such a thing as ‘too much medicine’? No. Is there such a thing as ‘too much money?’ It’s not something we haven’t discovered yet!
The sport also announced that the first “Formula 1 Peace Prize” would be awarded posthumously to Genghis Khan for his role in spreading peace in Europe and Asia.
