Ahmedabad and surrounding talukas receive the highest rainfall.
The state has received an average of 19.42 inches of rainfall so far, accounting for 54.28% of the season’s total rainfall. In the last 24 hours, 137 taluks of the state received an average rainfall of 5.50 mm. Maximum 4 inches at Kaprada in Valsad, 3 at Amirgarh in Banaskantha, mostly in last 24 hours.

Rain was recorded in 117 talukas today between 6 am and 12 pm with Banaskanthi’s Amirgarh receiving over two and a half inches of rain. Ahmedabad received up to an inch and a half of rain, creating a water bombing situation. While Dhandhuk Panthak received one inch of rain and Dholera Panthak received one and a half inches of rain. The rain became a nuisance for people going to school and work in the morning.
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain with orange warning in Banaskantha, Patan, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Dahod, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Chotaudepur, Narmada, Valsad, Bharuch, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli for the next 3 hours (up to 16:00). A yellow alert has been declared in other areas. A yellow alert was issued today (July 27) with heavy rain forecast in 18 districts including Vav Tharad, Patan, Vadodara and two Union Territories.

NDRF rescue in Ahmedabad: water bomb, collapsing building and Dholera A water burst situation occurred in the city of Ahmedabad with just an inch and a half of rain. Areas like Highway, Taltej, Chanakyapuri, Chandlodia and Bhopal witnessed waist-deep flooding, leaving motorists and residents in dire straits and many two-wheelers stranded. In addition, a tree fell near Pakwan, and a dilapidated house fell on the slope of Astodia, where the real estate department arrived and began dismantling the dangerous part.

Due to excessive rainfall and influx of water, Vani Lake village in Dholera taluka has become inaccessible as it has been surrounded from all sides and turned into a bat. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the system has activated the NDRF team, which is conducting a rescue operation to evacuate the villagers to safety using boats.

Condition of dams and reservoirs The state’s Sardar Sarovar (Narmada Dam) has retained 69.25% (2,31,342 million cubic feet) of its total capacity. Moreover, 45.41% of the total storage capacity is available in 206 reservoirs. A total of 13 dams in the state are 100% full, 26 dams are 70-100% full, and 28 dams are 50-70% full. Regarding safety, currently 21 dams are on high alert, 05 dams are on high alert and 13 dams are on warning status.
Road and traffic conditions A total of 208 roads managed by the Roads and Works Department were closed to traffic due to heavy rains. It includes 137 panchayat roads, 23 other roads, 12 state highways and 2 national highways. The districts worst affected by road closures are Ahmedabad (42 roads), Valsad (40 roads), Surendranagar (23 roads) and Navsari (18 roads). In addition, ST. However, a yellow warning for heavy rain has been issued at selected places in Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Dang, Valsad, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli tomorrow, i.e. 28th July. Then on July 29, a yellow alert was also issued due to heavy rain at isolated places in Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Dang, Valsad, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli.

There are currently only 5 systems active in the state including upper air circulation, Gulf monsoon trough, cyclonic circulation, deep depression and the intensity of rainfall has increased in the state.
