2026 Commonwealth Games
Australia and England swapped all four legs this morning, so none of the swimmers involved in the battle that separated them by just 0.15 seconds returned. Surprisingly, this Tom Dean who might be the biggest miss. He split 47.99 for England at anchor this morning, having clocked 46.70 in this relay four years ago.
Flynn Southam starts up front for the Australians, where he will face Jacob Mills for England as a veteran James Guy will swim against Kai Taylor on the second leg. Newcomers Gabriel Shepherd and Harrison Turner will meet in the third match before Kyle Chalmers and Jacob Whittle lead their teams home.
Canada kept its quartet from the heats, while South Africa made one change. Peter Coetzee comes out on top replacing Chris Mikhailov, who was 49.64 this morning, meaning Chad le Clos continues on the supporting leg. Koetze has a lifetime best of 47.88.
Scotland enters Duncan ScottEvan Jones and Matt Ward, leaving only Dean Fearn after splitting 49.11 this morning. They will feel bronze is just around the corner with Jones and Scott looking good in the 200m this morning.
Malaysia and the Cayman Islands do not allow their four swimmers to compete in the heats, while the Isle of Man swimmers are not available to view on the start lists. This morning their quartet was Joel Watterson, Harry Robinson, Magnus Kelly and Peter Allen.
