Harris did not have a good experience filming the first season to the point that he was considering leaving the series, the Oscar-nominated actor told the publication. Diversity on the red carpet at the premiere of his upcoming film on Apple TV Dink.
“Halfway through that first season, I was ready to quit; I said, ‘Get me the hell out of here,’ to tell you the truth. Because I didn’t feel like I was being used,” Harris said. “I felt a little misled. Before I signed on to do this project, I was talked to quite a bit about what the season was going to be and what my character was going to do and the fact that I was one of the four main characters. But that wasn’t really the case.”
Harris said he shared his concerns with authorities: “I said, ‘I feel underutilized and unimportant.’ And they kind of said, “Oh.” »
He may have felt that his complaints fell on deaf ears, but they were heard. According to sources, the recent change in leadership Dutton Ranch, with creator Chad Feehan, who was the showrunner of the first season, quit before the series premiered, had a lot to do with the way Harris’ character Everett McKinney was used—or rather, underused.

He explained that he was filming a song that ended up on the cutting room floor.
“They said it was too much for a dark ending to the episode, and that was reason enough for me to say, ‘I’m canceling my contract,'” he said.
Harris drew a distinction between his experience filming the first season and the final product.
“When I watched this season, I thought it was great and I thought it was pretty good,” he said. “I felt good about what I did in it, and it felt like I was relatively important to the story, but doing it didn’t feel that way.”
