Toronto is reportedly gaining defensive experience in the midfield.
Toronto FC and Bundesliga club FC Heidenheim have reached an agreement for the transfer of defensive midfielder Niklas Dorsch, insider Fabrizio Romano said on Tuesday.
The agreement includes a transfer fee of $4.3 million and a five-year contract for Dorsch. According to Romano, the clubs are still finalizing the documentation for the deal.
Dorsch, 28, a native of Lichtenfels, Germany, rose through his career with Bayern Munich. He made his senior Bundesliga debut in the 2017/18 season, playing in one game for Bayern. The following year he joined Heidenheim and also had stints with Belgian club Gent and Bundesliga side Augsburg before returning to Heidenheim for the 2024–25 season.
During his senior career, he appeared in 118 Bundesliga matches and 209 games.
Toronto FC returns to action on Wednesday on the road against the New England Revolution. This season, Toronto is 3-6-6 with a goal differential of minus-seven.
