Dearness Allowance Increase Announced, Government Gives Good News to These Employees, Business Hindi News

The center’s employees are waiting for an increase in their bonuses for the six months from July to December. During this wait, non-union officers and executives working in Central Government SEs (CPSEs) received a big gift. In fact, the Department of Public Enterprises has released new Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) rates. We would like to inform you that taking into account the impact of inflation, this allowance has been revised, which will increase the monthly salary of thousands of employees.

What are the new industrial dearness allowance rates?

According to the government notification, the new rates of this benefit will be applicable to CPSE employees covered under the 1987, 1997, 2007 and 2017 tariff rates. Allowances for employees falling under the 2017 tariff schedule have been increased to 55.7%. And if we talk about the premiums in 2007 and 1997, they are 241.7% and 476.9%, respectively. Additionally, the Industrial Dearness Allowance of ₹18,298 has been fixed on the basis of the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) average of 9,854 for employees in the 1987 pay scale. This enhanced benefit will be provided to those employees working in CPSE. They include executives and non-union executives of public companies in the energy, oil and gas, infrastructure, manufacturing, steel, coal, energy and financial services sectors.

How much will this affect wages?

The direct benefit of increasing the dearness premium will have an impact on employees’ monthly income. Assuming an employee’s basic salary is £50,000 and they fall under the 2017 pay scale, then under the new IDA rate of 55.7% they would receive £27,850 in dearness allowance. This amount will vary for different employees depending on their basic salary.

What is IDA?

Talking about Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA), it is an allowance provided to reduce the effect of inflation. It is calculated based on the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). When inflation increases, IDA also increases so that the purchasing power of employees remains unchanged. It is amended from time to time.

This increase in dearness allowance comes at a time when central employees are also waiting. For central employees, the increase in semi-annual remuneration from July to December may occur in September or October. The government is expected to increase the benefit by 3 or 4 percent. If this happens, central employees will receive a raise of 63 or 64 percent. Note that the premium for high prices is currently 60%.
