quit New Zealand chose bowling against West Indies
West Indies have welcomed back a couple of local lads with Shimron Hetmyer and Keemo Paul finding a place in the team after long absences. Both men grew up playing cricket in Guyana, a fact that was not lost on their captain, Shai Hope. The hosts were asked to hit the ball after losing the third match of the series, which ended 1–1.
Hetmyer last played 50-over cricket for the West Indies in June 2025. Paul waited even longer; It has been three years since a fast bowler represented the region in ODIs. Their return was made possible by the addition of Amir Jangu and Matthew Ford to the bench.
Mitchell Santner, the New Zealand captain, mentioned that the pitch at Providence Stadium was the same as the one used in the first game of the five-match series, and also confirmed changes in his team. All-rounder Nathan Smith came into the field in place of fast bowler Matthew Fisher. Spin has played a significant role in the series so far, taking 22 wickets. The Kwiki took only six.
This will be the last ODI of the tour in Guyana before the teams move to Bridgetown.
