Highway 3 is closed in both directions, as is Highway 1, leaving the Coquihalla Highway as the only route out of the Fraser Valley this evening.

UPDATE: 10 p.m.

Drive BC says the next Highway 3 status update will be available tomorrow at 10 a.m.

The highway was closed in both directions this evening due to a 12-acre Norway Creek wildfire located just off the highway near the Skagit River.

The BC Wildfire Service says the Manning Park wildfire is showing increased fire intensity, prompting a closure as smoke will be visible throughout the area and may impact visibility.

Highway 3 between Hope and the Manning Park Visitor Center on Grouse Road is closed due to a wildfire.

The 12-hectare Norway Creek wildfire has closed the highway in both directions.

According to Drive BC, a detour is not possible and motorists are advised to follow dispatch and signage.

Highway 5 is currently the only available alternative route from the Fraser Valley as Highway 1 is closed between Hells Gate and Boston Bar due to the Brunswick Complex wildfires.
