A tennis love story: the glamorous Tuscan wedding of Australian Alex de Minaur and Briton Katie Boulter

Australia’s Alex de Minaur and Britain’s Katie Boulter unveiled photos from their lavish European wedding when the two singles tennis stars became one married power couple earlier this month.

The couple tied the knot twice – first in an intimate ceremony in Leicester, where Boulter grew up, and then in a much more elaborate affair at an 800-year-old farmhouse and estate in Tuscany that lasted three days.

Telling their love story for British Vogue, the newlyweds said the spark was lit when they both found themselves at Adelaide Airport at 6am, heading to Melbourne.

For years they had crossed paths in tennis, but they soon learned that they were each booked into the same hotel and felt it was appropriate to have coffee.

Boulter, 29, initially ruled out the 27-year-old Australian because he was two years her junior.

“I’ll never date anyone younger—that’s just not my mindset,” she recalls thinking.

De Minaur popped the question in the Spanish coastal city of Alicante five years later, and the couple publicly confirmed their engagement in December 2024.

Their whimsical church wedding in Woodhouse was attended by just eight guests and was planned to accommodate Boulter’s grandfather, who lives with dementia and was recently moved to a care home.

The world number 67 wore a dress by iconic English designer Vivienne Westwood, while the fifth-ranked Australian wore a single-breasted navy Ralph Lauren tuxedo.

Flying to Italy the next day and settling into the sprawling Borgo Santo Pietro estate, the couple soon enjoyed a rehearsal dinner with a larger guest list that included ingredients grown on the property.

For the ceremony itself, Boulter changed into a Caroline Castigliano dress, which used a piece of fabric from her grandmother’s dress that the player sewed herself.

Following his Ralph Lauren taste, De Minaur opted for a double-breasted tuxedo, admitting that he “wanted to feel like James Bond.”

However, unlike the international spy, Demon began to sweat when his 1956 Porsche Speedster, bought specifically to sneak his new wife out of the ceremony, failed to start—twice.

Later, guests gathered in the centuries-old trattoria, where the couple danced for the first time to the tune of Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.

On their last day, they de-stressed with a pool party filled with ice cream, caprese salads, pizza and a DJ.
