Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs has won renomination in the battleground state of Arizona.
That’s because the incumbent governor ran unopposed in Tuesday’s Democratic primary.
Hobbs, the former Arizona secretary of state who narrowly defeated then-GOP candidate Carey Lake four years ago, now heads to the general election in the key southwestern battleground state.

The governor will face the winner of the Republican gubernatorial primary.
Rep. Andy Biggs, former chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, has the support of President Donald Trump and the conservative political wing of Turning Point USA. Also on the GOP ballot are longtime Republican David Schweikert, concrete pump contractor Scott Neely, who is running for governor for the second time in a row, and business owner Ken Miceli.

Hobbs, who has amassed a sizable campaign budget, spent an estimated $7 million on advertising during the primaries even though she had no competition.
“We are in a race that we need to win and it will take a lot of effort to achieve that goal. We know it’s going to be a tight race,” Hobbs told reporters Monday. “I’m proud of the support I’ve received and, you know, I’m not raising campaign money to get them out. I collect them to spend.”
The governor’s ads, aimed in part at independent and Republican voters, showcased what she said were economic victories for Arizona during her time in office, as well as her bipartisan efforts to work with the GOP-controlled Legislature.

The Libertarian Party, Green Party and No Labels Party also have candidates on the general election ballot in the race for Arizona governor.
