The search for Alexandru Olaisiu Sorin will resume on Monday morning, as soon as weather permits. Unfortunately, however, as time passed, hopes of ever finding him finally faded: there has been no news of him since Saturday evening, when he sank off the coast of Jamaica Beach in Sirmione in an area where the lake is more than 50 meters deep. And all this after saving the life of a drowning 7-year-old boy.

This is the sad story of a young hero, 29-year-old Alexandru: born and raised in Romania, still living in Corigliano Rossano, province of Cosenza, but for some time living on Lake Garda, where he worked in the maritime sector of the company Garda Tours. Since Saturday afternoon, the search has continued in all directions with the help of men and vehicles from the fire brigade (also flying a Venice helicopter, specialist divers, as well as various boats) and the coastguard, who are responsible for coordinating the operation, supported by a detachment of Garda volunteers for in-depth analysis. But still no trace of the missing man.
Salvation
Alexandru Sorin was driving a motorboat rented by a family of English tourists: it was he who dived to save the life of a 7-year-old boy who was at that moment in difficulty in the water, as said off the coast of Jamaica Beach. Having reached and rescued him, the 29-year-old man also sank, possibly due to the effects of the efforts he had just made, as well as the probable phenomenon of hydrocution, that is, heat shock caused by the difference between the external temperature (and body temperature) and the water being too cold.
