Mexican authorities have arrested 10 people, including the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), who coordinated criminal activities in the Mexican states of Nayarit and Tlaxcala, it was reported on Sunday (07/19/2026).
Security sources and local media reported that the alleged detained criminal is Jose Guadalupe Ahumada Villegas, alias “M4”.
The detainees are involved in crimes such as murder, kidnapping, extortion, drug trafficking, robberies of cargo vehicles, arms sales, illegal production and sale of hydrocarbons and are members of the said criminal organization.
In a joint statement, the security forces indicated that in the state of Nayarit, agents conducted seven searches of properties in the municipalities of Tepic and Jalisco in the province of Nayarit, where they captured 10 people, including Ahumada Villegas.
They seized three long guns, three vehicles and various cell phones from the property.
Earlier, Mexican authorities arrested Justo Aurelio Rivera Parrazales, an alleged logistics and financial operator of the criminal organization Cartel del Noreste in the city of Merida, capital of the state of Yucatan (southeast).
During the operation, 15 high-end vehicles and various assets worth more than 145 million pesos (about $8.2 million) were confiscated.
