Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche denies involvement in the brouhaha surrounding the purchase of real estate in Croatia, but regrets the lack of communication. “In hindsight, more openness, especially with the supervisory board, would certainly have been wiser. It was my mistake, I would have done things differently today,” the 45-year-old told Kicker. In 2022, Krösche bought property in Croatia with the wife of player agent Andy Bahr. He emphasized that he did not receive any preferences. “I appointed Lana Bainley’s company to develop my property because she had already gained experience and knowledge in this location. I have reliably paid for all services arising from this contract in accordance with the market – and of course had no problem disclosing this transparently to our supervisory board. So what is my advantage? – he said. Krösche is also unable to identify a possible connection with player transfers. “All player transfers are, of course, internally transparent and based on search processes involving several people. These processes are documented in writing – and ultimately decisions are made not individually, but jointly,” Krösche said.
