State parliament candidate criticizes own party

The decision to reform compulsory health insurance has been made – and it has been met with great concern. Not only among public associations and hospital representatives, but also among representatives of the ruling parties. State parliament candidate Finn Lehmann (SPD) has now openly expressed his opposition to the reform: “We must keep contributions low, there is no doubt about that. But the accepted package leads to savings in the wrong places. First of all, cutting free joint insurance for spouses simply shifts the cost to employees. It is clear from whom this demand comes. But anyone who calls himself a social democrat cannot agree with something like that.” It is unclear what impact this will have on hospitals. It is unlikely that criticism from representatives of the federal states will now cause a rethink.
