Residents of Majoc are still in shock two days after the discovery of bones under a pile of earth, according to testimony from Cédric Jubillar, who led investigators to the site where he said he buried his wife Delphine. The bones are now being analyzed to determine if they actually belong to Delphine Jubillar, who mysteriously disappeared from the couple’s home in 2020.
Despite this discovery, it is unlikely that the entire body will one day be found, especially due to the location where the remains were buried: a large pile of slurry that partially covered the body may have been scattered by farm equipment.
“It is quite possible that for the scattering of several fields with an excavator, the farmer carried away a part of the body that was scattered in one of his fields, along with all the mechanics, agricultural equipment, which was completely destroyed and turned into small bone pieces, but over an area of several hectares,” explained François Daoust, former director of the Institute of Criminal Research of the National Gendarmerie (IRCGN) on RTL.
Local residents also treated themselves to the liquid.
Therefore, the huge pile of dung kept by the owner of the field was probably scattered over various plots of land in the region: Delphine Jubilar’s remains were then scattered without her knowledge, gradually and certainly over many years. Moreover, this pile of slurry was used not only by the farmer: local residents also came to use it for their garden.
“Only this year I didn’t take manure, but for 4-5 years I took it in 200-liter barrels,” a local resident told RTL. “I planted tomatoes for the garden…” The local resident has difficulty understanding that there were bones in this pile of earth. “I would see it…”
“He made a hole with his hands.”
However, this is where the bones were discovered this Thursday, July 16th. According to lawyer Cedric Jubillar, the latter “made a hole very easily with his hands” before “hiding the body inside this mound”, located about ten kilometers from the couple’s home. After two days of searches in Majok, authorities announced Friday that the searches had ended and “should not be resumed.”
In early July, Cédric Jubillard admitted for the first time that he was “responsible” for Delphine’s death. The discovery of these bones, if indeed they belong to Delphine, could then reopen a new investigation, jeopardizing the appeal trial in the case, which was scheduled to take place on September 21, 2026.
