The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the monsoon will be active in most parts of the country on July 19. Many states across the country will experience light to moderate rain. Heavy to very heavy rain is possible in some places. The maximum impact will be seen in the Himalayan regions and northeastern states. Extremely heavy rainfall may occur in isolated places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. Heavy rain may also occur in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Western Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Thunder and lightning are also possible.
In Central India, rain and thunderstorms are expected in many parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Eastern Maharashtra on Sunday. Moderate to heavy rain may also occur at many places in the Odisha, Jharkhand and Gangetic plains of West Bengal. Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh will experience cloudy skies, light to moderate rain and isolated heavy showers. This will cause temperatures to drop somewhat, but humidity may remain. Rain and strong winds are expected at isolated places in both eastern and western Uttar Pradesh.

The meteorological department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in eastern and central Uttar Pradesh for the next few days. There is a possibility of rising water levels in large rivers.
Kerala and Karnataka to experience heavy rains
In South India, many places in Kerala and coastal Karnataka will receive light to moderate rainfall. Heavy rain is possible in some places. Thunderstorm may continue with light rains over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. A yellow warning for heavy rain has been issued in many parts of Kerala. Heavy rain is possible at isolated places in Goa and the Konkan region on the west coast. Rainfall is expected to be light and scattered over most parts of Maharashtra.

In northeast India, heavy rainfall is likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. These include the possibility of flooding, landslides and rising river levels due to very heavy rainfall in parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. Fishermen and people living in hilly areas are advised to remain vigilant.
