It looks like a turf war is brewing!
Former opponents Mark Harmon And Michael Weatherly both resurrect their NCIS characters on screen—and a source says tensions are already running high behind the scenes.
“Bosses are hoping a little healthy rivalry will be good for ratings because they are paying big money to bring back these two heavyweights,” a source says. Expert. “But for people working on a franchise, it’s a different story: No one wants to deal with a toxic environment at work.”
On Tuesday, June 30, CBS announced that Harmon had spoken about the spinoff. NCIS: Origins will appear on camera as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in every episode of the spin-off’s third season since his debut in 2024.
The very next day, the network announced that Weatherly was set to reprise his role as Tony DiNozzo for the 24th season of the original series.
“They will no doubt cross paths and that will have people bracing for some drama,” the source opines. “Mark continues to have a great influence around the world. NCIS universe, and Michael has never been one to like being told what to do, least of all by Mark.”

Weatherly, 58, hinted at a feud with Harmon, 74, with whom he starred for 13 seasons before his departure in 2016, during a 2007 interview with Futon Critic, saying his co-star was “confused by my presence from the beginning.”
However, a decade later Dark Angel The alum admitted that he had a better understanding of some of Harmon’s on-set moves after becoming No. 1 on the call sheet himself with the series. Bullreports Chicago Tribune.
