Added Features
One of the big achievements of the Brezza will be the expanded list of features both inside and out. Big exterior upgrades include LED fog lights, new alloy wheel designs and an under-body compressed natural gas tank. Inside, it will get ventilated front seats, a 10.1-inch infotainment system and 64-color ambient lighting. All these features are available on the Victoris SUV and are likely to be offered only on the top-spec variants.

Big picture
The Maruti Brezza update comes at a time when all the major players in the segment have received big updates or are set to undergo big changes over the next six to eight months. The new engine option will allow Maruti to fully comply with the regulations for sub-4 meter models and thus have a lower starting price. If you look closely, there is nothing extraordinary or segment-redefining about all these feature updates; rather, they all now meet the minimum requirements and give the Brezza enough to once again be on the radar of this segment of buyers. The list of competitors is huge and includes models like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Mahindra XUV3XO, Kia Sonet, Kia Syros, Hyundai Venue and upcoming models like the Renault Bridger, its Nissan sibling and the Honda subcompact coming next year.
