A major accident occurred on Thursday evening at Jaypee North Society, Mira Road East, Mumbai. Here, a huge crane installed on the 11th floor of a building under construction suddenly broke and fell into the society premises. As a result of this tragic incident, a 22-year-old youth was killed and several other people were seriously injured. As soon as the crane fell, chaos reigned throughout the area. People present in the community began to flee to safety and soon a crowd of people gathered at the spot.

According to eyewitnesses, work was going on as usual at the RERS building under construction at the Jaypee North complex. Then the giant crane, which was lifting heavy loads on the 11th floor, suddenly lost its balance and fell down. As soon as the crane fell, a huge explosion was heard throughout the area, upon hearing which, residents of nearby societies were also scared. Following the impact of the crane, around 15-16 vehicles (cars and two-wheelers) parked in the parking lot and premises of the society were completely crushed and reduced to debris.
As soon as information about the incident was received, several police and fire brigade crews arrived at the scene and began operational rescue operations. Due to the possibility of people being trapped under the rubble, rescue operations were carried out. One person was later confirmed dead. Police and representatives of relevant departments surrounded the entire area and began an investigation.
Initially, the reasons for the crane fall could not be known. Technicians are also busy investigating how a crane under construction suddenly broke down. The administration appealed to citizens not to crowd around the scene and not to obstruct rescue efforts. An order was also given to conduct a detailed investigation into the causes of the accident.
The police and administration are currently investigating the entire matter. Official information about the identity of the deceased and the causes of the incident is expected. There is enormous anger among local residents following this heartbreaking accident.
