The “Una piagja per tutti” program, launched in 2022, brings together 70 beaches accessible to people with disabilities. The Corsican Community, the Regional Health Agency, the Corsican Tourism Agency, the Regional Academic Delegation for Youth, Commitment and Sports (DRAJES) and the Cap Corse Disability Association are signing a new agreement this year to help the project develop.
The island’s beaches attract thousands of locals and tourists every summer. However, these natural gems by their nature remain difficult to access for people with disabilities.
To promote inclusivity and enable all audiences to benefit, the project “Una piaghja per tutti” has been compiling a list of sites available for PRM for four years.
This partnership supports communities to develop and equip their beaches. Special signs are installed at each object that is marked. Today, 70 beaches are marked in Corsica, which are classified into four categories according to the level of equipment:
Level 1: Access Mat
Level 2: Access mat + chair.
Level 3: Access mat + chair + toilet designed for PRM.
Level 4: Access mat + chair + toilet reserved for PRM for at least 120 days per year.

On June 25, the five project partners extended the agreement “Una piagja per tutti”.
It has several objectives: identifying and classifying inclusive beaches, making four visits to each marked beach during the summer, checking installation, dismantling and adjustment of accessibility equipment, strengthening communication and promotion of beaches, and promoting the system to communities.
The system, run by the Cap Corse disabled people’s association, receives €44,000 in funding from public partners.
The Corsican Tourism Agency, which ensures the mapping of marked beaches, also participates in the financing of inclusive equipment purchased by municipalities and intermunicipalities, up to 80%, through its guide to tourist assistance.
This summer, seven beaches received the fourth level of the “Una piagja per tutti” label, the highest level of inclusivity. These are the beaches of Pagoda a la Marana (Bigulha), the beaches of San Pellegrino and Via Luna in Folelli (Castagnica Casinca), the beaches of Algaiola, Sant’Ambrodu and Club Nautic (Calvi) in Balani and, finally, the beach of Campumoru in Corsica du Sud.
In addition to people with limited mobility, the system is also designed for isolated elderly people.
The partners now intend to extend the period of availability of the marked beaches so that the target audience can take advantage of the amenities offered before and after the season.
