Monsoons remain active in the country. The sea level monsoon trough reaches a low pressure area near the coast of North Odisha and West Bengal in the northwestern Bay of Bengal through Jammu, Dehradun, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Patna, Buxar. Heavy rain possible in these states

According to Skymet, Sikkim, Northeast India, parts of Odisha and Chhattisgarh may experience light to moderate rain with heavy rain at some places. Apart from this, there is a chance of rain in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh as well. Light rain is possible in parts of Western Himalayan states, North Punjab, Gujarat, Konkan Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and Vidarbha.

Humidity returns after rain in Delhi, yellow alert issued

There was light rain in some areas of the capital Delhi on Wednesday morning, but after that the weather returned to hot and humid. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Delhi on Thursday. The maximum temperature recorded at Delhi’s Safdarjung Meteorological Center was 38.4 degrees Celsius, 3.2 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 29.1 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature in Delhi on Thursday is expected to be between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD.

There is still little hope for relief in the situation in North-West India.

The weather may remain mostly dry in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra for the next few days, meteorologists said. However, light rain is possible in places. Experts say the monsoon trough is likely to move south after July 20, which could cause the monsoon to become active again in parts of northwestern and central India.

The air in Delhi is currently in the ‘moderate’ category.

Despite the rain, there was no significant improvement in Delhi’s air quality. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the average 24-hour AQI in Delhi was recorded at 159 at 4 pm on Wednesday, which falls in the ‘moderate’ category.
