A crew member of the Regal Princess died after falling overboard during a Caribbean cruise off the coast of Mexico.
The 19-deck Princess Cruises ship, departing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was sailing in waters off Cancun when the worker fell, prompting an urgent emergency search.
Search and rescue efforts ended tragically when a crew member was found dead in the water.

Princess Cruises confirmed the death in a statement Monday, offering condolences to the worker’s loved ones.
“Princess Cruises is deeply saddened by the passing of a Princess crew member who went overboard the Regal Princess today.
“Princess Cruises thanks local maritime authorities and our colleagues at Carnival Jubilee who assisted with search and rescue efforts,” the cruise ship said, according to the New York Post.

The person’s identity has not been disclosed.
Following the incident, the Royal Princess continued its planned voyage to its next stop in Belize.
After a stop in Belize on Tuesday, the ship is expected to complete its seven-day journey in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.
The Nightly has contacted Princess Cruises for comment.
The cruise tragedy comes after a dozen passengers were banned from the Carnival cruise line after an unruly fight broke out at the ship’s port in Florida.
A chaotic brawl broke out shortly after passengers disembarked the ship at the Port of Miami on Monday after a cruise to the Bahamas.
Dramatic footage of the rowdy brawl that has made the rounds on social media shows a group of travelers waiting in line at customs before a violent brawl breaks out.
Cruise ship Carnival has confirmed that 16 passengers have been banned from its ships.
“The incident occurred in a landing zone supervised by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (sic),” the company said in a statement.
“We appreciate law enforcement’s quick response and handling of the case. We do not tolerate this type of behavior.”
