Mainz (c)
On Tuesday morning, shortly after half past five, the Mainz fire department received a warning about Stresemann-Ufer in the immediate vicinity of the Theodor-Heuss bridge. The person must have fallen there and is lying in a hard-to-reach place. When the professional fire brigade arrived, the reported situation was confirmed. One man, for some unknown reason, fell from the bank and lay wounded on the rocks exposed by the low water level of the Rhine. The rescue service has already arrived at the scene in an ambulance and established contact with the person. Firefighters installed a ladder, along which two colleagues, securing them with rescue collars and ropes, descended to the man. Because both colleagues were trained in emergency medical care, an initial qualified injury assessment could be completed quickly. The man was then taken to a multi-purpose fire brigade boat that had arrived in the meantime. The handover to the rescue service finally took place at a nearby pier. The professional Mainz fire department was on duty, consisting of 15 officers, 4 vehicles and boats. In addition, the rescue service was on duty with ambulances and an ambulance, as well as the police with a patrol car.
