Ashad Amavasya Method of Worship
Place a clean chair at your temple or in the east direction of the house. Spread a yellow or white colored cloth on it and install an idol or image of Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi. Then light a lamp of pure ghee or sesame oil before the Lord. Apply yellow sandalwood tilak to Lord Vishnu and kumkum tilak to Goddess Lakshmi.
