Jürgen Drews rarely appears in public anymore. But now the pop singer made an exception and attended a celebrity reception – with a walker.
At the annual Mercedes-Benz reception in honor of the “Klassik am Odeonsplatz” in Munich celebrities gathered on Sunday. About 200 invited guests gathered in the glass gallery on Odeonsplatz. Among them: Jurgen Drews with his wife Ramona, daughter Joelina and son-in-law Adrian.
The 81-year-old man chose a blue suit and white tie for the event. The pop star also had an incurable nervous illness. Polyneuropathy suffers when going to an event with his walker for the first time, as reported by Abendzeitung München.
“I’m still walking normally. That evening I didn’t know whether we were standing or not, so I took him with me,” the “King of Mallorca” explained to the newspaper. “Jurgen Drews will no longer exist”
Jurgen Drews reported his illness in 2021. The musician was diagnosed with polyneuropathy when he was tested for dementia due to forgetfulness. “The old Jürgen Drues will no longer exist,” the Bild am Sonntag singer said at the time.
He didn’t know at the time that he would be retiring shortly thereafter. In 2022, he announced his retirement from the popular industry. The “King of Mallorca” celebrated his farewell in 2023.
This was three years ago. Jürgen Drews now lives away from the limelight with his wife Ramona. Since then he has rarely been seen on stage.
