Festival-goers gathered on the night of Friday 10 July to Saturday 11 July at the Forges de Lanoué in Morbihan for an unsanctioned rave party. The meeting comes at a time when the department is on red alert due to extreme heat and there is a high risk of wildfires.
A rave party that authorities consider dangerous. Since this Friday, July 10, no less than 1,500 people have gathered in the Forges de Lanoué (Morbihan) to have fun, despite all the rules, emphasizes France 3 Régions.
However, the police have deployed a system to limit the arrival of new participants and ensure the security of the premises. According to the prefecture, discussions have also been initiated with organizers and participants. On July 7, an order was even issued to restrict public access to forest areas, prohibiting gatherings of more than 50 people due to the high risk of fires. In vain.
“Dangerous” conditions
Thus, in a press release, the prefect of Morbihan, Mikael Gali, condemned the meeting, organized in conditions that he considers dangerous, Midi Libre reports. He believes the extreme heat, lack of suitable infrastructure and high risk of fires expose participants, emergency services and the environment to significant risks. “We are faced with organizers whose behavior is irresponsible, since we are at a time when Morbihan is in a state of great alarm in the heart of a forest with a high risk of fires in natural areas,” the prefect further criticized on RTL.
In fact, a number of restrictive measures have already been introduced against the department. All rave parties are banned there until August 31, and access to some forested areas, including the Forges de Lanoue sector, is limited due to the risk of fire. Gatherings of more than 50 people are prohibited in these areas for part of the day and night.
