According to PlanetF1.com, Brown joined the board of directors of the Pramac Racing team in May, almost four years after leaving his posts as managing director (motorsport) and technical director at Formula One Management.

The 71-year-old’s agreement with Pramak also sees him act as a strategic adviser to team boss Paolo Campinoti.

Brown’s arrival coincides with the rising fortunes of the Pramac team, which sits at the bottom of the MotoGP team standings.

The Italian team only had six points at the time of Brown’s appointment, and since then the Italian team has added a further 20 points in four races.

Brown’s appointment by Pramac sees him become the latest high-profile figure to show an interest in MotoGP after Formula One owner Liberty Media completed its takeover of the series.

Former Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner moved to MotoGP last year, leading the consortium that acquired the Tech3 team. Pierre Gasly, an Alpine racing driver, was also named as one of the investors in the deal.

Brawn has largely kept his distance from Formula 1 since stepping down from his role at FOM at the end of 2022.

However, it has emerged that the veteran was present at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix last weekend.

A photograph from Silverstone showed Brown on the grid with his wife Jean ahead of the British Grand Prix sprint race.

Brawn previously attended the 83rd Goodwood members’ meeting in April when he was reunited with 2009 world champion Jenson Button and his title-winning Brawn GP BGP 001.

His last direct involvement in Formula 1 is believed to have occurred in February 2025, when he attended the F1 75 season-opening event in London.

It is unclear when he last attended a Grand Prix before Silverstone.

Brawn is considered one of the most successful figures in Formula One history, having achieved title success alongside Michael Schumacher at Benetton and Ferrari in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

He then joined Honda as team principal, staying on after the Japanese manufacturer’s sudden departure and leading the revamped Brawn GP team to title glory alongside Button in 2009.

Brown remained in his position after the team was bought by Mercedes later that year, before leaving the Brackley-based team at the end of the 2013 season.

The veteran returned to the top role after Liberty Media took control of Formula 1 in 2017, playing a major role in shaping the ground effect rules that will run from 2022 to 2025.

Brown’s return to the Silverstone paddock coincides with Christian Horner’s first appearance in the paddock since his dramatic departure from Red Bull in July 2025.

Horner spent more than 20 years at the helm of Red Bull, overseeing the team’s dominant periods alongside Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.
