EXCLUSIVE: Jessica Alba (English)Trigger Warning) has signed a deal to join Emily Bader, Logan Lerman and Adeline Rudolph in Netflix’s reboot of the romantic comedy. 13 Soon 30sources tell Deadline.
Netflix representatives declined to comment. Alba’s role and the sequel’s logline are being kept under wraps. Jennifer Garner, who starred in the original film, is executive producing the sequel, which began production in Los Angeles last month.

Garner played the adult version of the character, starring opposite Mark Ruffalo in Gary Winick’s beloved film. Grossing an estimated $96 million in theaters worldwide and achieving major success on home video, the film remained a cultural touchstone for decades, making a reboot inevitable. While working on the film, Garner recently produced the musical adaptation directed by Andy Fickman, which had its world premiere at the Manchester Opera House last fall.

Brett Haley, director of the hit Netflix romantic series People we meet on holidaydirecting from a script by Hannah Marks (Mark, Mary and some other people) with modifications by Flora Greeson (Princess Diaries 3). Joe Roth and Jeff Kirshenbaum are producing the film for RK Films, with Garner executive producing along with Donna Roth and Susan Arnold, Scott Hemming for Revolution Studios, Alyssa Altman for RK Films, Marks, Gina Matthews and Ted Gidlow.
