The seven-time champion was in the midst of a clinical victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas when he needed to cut the tag off his shirt.

Djokovic sat steadily while a young volunteer helped him with a question, but could not resist and decided to prank her.

It led to a classic moment between the pair, with the girl jumping back in fear and then covering her mouth in laughter when she realized Djokovic was joking.

Speaking after the match, Djokovic said the fun moment “relaxed” him on court en route to a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 win over Tsitsipas.

“I think these things happen when you’re two sets to zero, not two sets to zero,” he said.

“Stefanos went to change clothes, so I had some free time… Sorry. I don’t know if she’s around. Sorry if I scared her. It probably wasn’t such a good joke, I guess.”

“It made me relax a little bit.”

The reporter told Djokovic that it was a really good joke, and the girl quickly laughed it off.

The 39-year-old tennis legend will face Arthur Rinderknech in the third round.
