The project, developed by the Center for the Development of Advanced Computing, aims to improve operational efficiency. EPFO hopes that the revised mechanism will make services more transparent and subscribers will receive uninterrupted services.

The EPFO ​​is facing several technical and procedural delays in serving members, such as filing claims for deceased members and submitting life certificates for pensioners. Currently, EPFO ​​has a decentralized system with separate databases in each divisional and regional office. Members are assigned to one regional office. In many cases, even retired beneficiaries had to contact regional offices in the jurisdictions where they worked to file claims or resolve technical problems. Beneficiaries of deceased members also had to contact their respective regional offices with pension or other claims. Currently, operations are primarily performed by more than 120 decentralized databases without centralized control. There were complaints that account transactions were “employer-biased” as most claims required employer authorization.
