There seems to be only one direction in Florian David Fitz’s career: up. He has consistently made at least one film a year for nearly 20 years. And that’s not all.

Can Florian David Fitz do it all?

At 51, he is one of the most popular and successful German actors. Since his breakthrough in 2008 as Dr. Marc Olivier Meyer in the comedy series The Diary of a Doctor, he has been producing hits non-stop. The Munich native is not only happy with his acting skills, but also works as a screenwriter, director and producer.

His greatest works include Something Else Happens, Welcome to the Hartmanns, First Name, The Perfect Secret and Weekend Rebels.

You can see Florian David Fitz live on ARD on Joyn today.

During his career, Fitz has appeared in more than 55 films and TV series and has been awarded, among others, the Adolf Grimme Prize (2007), the German Film Award (2011), Bambi (2010) and the Bavarian Order of Merit (2025).

But at the beginning of my career this was out of the question.

Famous relatives

His grandfather Joseph Fitz was the brother of Hans Fitz, playwright and actor. His sons Walter and Gerd were not only famous folk actors themselves, but also the fathers of Lisa Fitz and Michael Fitz. Lisa became famous as a cabaret performer, actress (“Forensic Examiner”) and singer, her cousin Michael played assistant to the Munich detectives “Tatort” Batich and Leitmayr for 15 years and, as a musician, recorded 16 CDs. Florian David is Lisa and Michael’s second cousin.

Although his parents Karlhans and Gabriele had nothing to do with acting and ran a hotel in Munich, Florian David Fitz showed the family genes from the very beginning. After graduating from high school, he studied acting and singing at the Boston Conservatory in America in 1994 and worked in New York City for a year after graduating. He made his living as a waiter and worked, among other things, at the New York branch of the Christie’s auction house. In 1999, he received a role in the musical “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and toured with the ensemble in Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Germany.
