Weather today: Summer Monday, despite a few storms in the east.

Where will the temperature drop the most?

It is between Grand Est and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes that temperatures show the most noticeable drop: 6-10°C lower than yesterday afternoon. Finally you can breathe!

Where will it be hottest?

The southeast is expected to experience the heaviest heat, with 35 to 39°C from Provence to Languedoc. Intense heat associated with tramontane and mistral, which have a hairdryer effect and increase the risk of fires and vegetation fires.

Where will the air be the best, most pleasant?

In the north, after a quiet night with temperatures ranging from 12 to 17°C at dawn, we’re looking at 22°C near the English Channel to 29°C in the Loire in the afternoon with sunshine hampered at times by a few cloudy crossings in Brittany.

Will there be thunderstorms?

Yes, in Grand Est in the morning, but also in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Burgundy-Franche-Comté and the Pyrenees in the afternoon. These regions have a moderate risk of storms. These storms separate the very warm air rising from the Mediterranean towards Central Europe from the cooler oceanic air present over much of our country.

Will temperatures continue to drop after this?

No, in the north we will remain at seasonal levels, and in the south we will remain high. But we will remain below heatwave thresholds despite very persistent heat near the Mediterranean.
