Eight people died as a result of the Ukrainian strike
A Ukrainian strike on the Russian-occupied village of Kyrylivka in southern Ukraine killed eight people, including two children, a Moscow-appointed official in charge of the Russian-controlled part of Ukraine’s Zaporozhye region said Saturday.
The village came under the control of Russian troops in the first days of the offensive against Ukraine in 2022. Since then, the war between Russia and Ukraine has seen a surge in civilian casualties this summer, with both sides stepping up their attacks. Ukrainian authorities have not yet responded.
New drone shot down in Romania
Romania shot down a drone in its airspace for the second day in a row on Saturday, July 24, 9.6 km west of Sfantu Gheorghe, in the Danube Delta, near the border with Ukraine. On Friday, its forces shot down a Russian drone for the first time, about 114 kilometers from the capital Bucharest.
Romania, a NATO member and bordering Ukraine, has faced frequent drone incursions since 2022, some of which have crashed on its territory.
Two people died as a result of a Russian strike in Sumy
At least two people were killed and two were injured in a Russian drone strike in Sumy in northern Ukraine, the head of the local military administration, Sergei Krivocheenko, said.
The strikes came a day after a Russian missile attack on a military equipment display in the Kyiv region that killed at least ten people and wounded nearly a hundred others to varying degrees on Friday, July 24. An explosion that once again raises questions about the safety of such events in Ukraine.
Russia is preparing a new mobilization, said Vladimir Zelensky
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said on Friday, July 24, that he had received “clear information” their intelligence services confirm that Russia, experiencing difficulties at the front, is preparing a new wave of military mobilization this fall.
“The Russians are currently losing more soldiers at the front than they are recruiting, but (Vladimir) Putin still intends to increase the number of attacks and expand this war. He needs even more Russians to take part in the attacks.”he added.
In recent months, Kyiv has managed to significantly slow down the advance of Russian troops and intensify attacks in depth against Russian industrial facilities and the logistics of the Russian army.
