The woman, aged in her fifties, was remanded in custody on Friday 10 July. She is suspected of causing a fire in Lissac, in the Haute-Loire. A fire that destroyed a hectare of vegetation.
“The neighbors would have seen her with a lighter in her hand.”. It was this detail that led the gendarmes to the trail of a woman of about fifty, who is now in a pre-trial detention center. She is suspected of deliberately setting fire to a field in Lissac, in the Haute-Loire, on July 8. About one hectare of vegetation burned in smoke.
The facts date back to July 8th. The Fire Operations Center reports a vegetation fire in the town of Lissac. A patrol from the Brigade Community of Saint-Paulin immediately arrived at the scene. While firefighters brought the fire under control, police identified the suspect.
According to the prosecution, “the neighbors would have seen her at the start of the fire with a lighter in her hand” Placed in police custody for damage caused by fire and riot, she has since been charged with “indignity by dangerous means.”
The woman will be tried on September 3rd on a deferred basis. The prosecution clarifies that this is not a matter of judicial information, but of a deferred appearance, a procedure close to immediate appearance. The difference: an examination still needs to be carried out before a verdict is passed. In this case, a psychiatric examination was ordered. It is she who justifies the postponement of the meeting to September 3. In the meantime, the accused is placed in a pre-trial detention center, as would be the case in the case of a traditional immediate appearance.
The prosecution has not given any motive at this stage. The fifty-year-old man had previously been tried for similar actions, but was acquitted.
