In 2023, Moritz Eisner (Harald Krasnitzer) and Bibi Fellner (Adele Neuhauser) investigated “Tatort: Azra”, which ARD will repeat on July 12. At the end of the year, the duo will leave Tatort after their 40th venture together.

The shock was great when Adele Neuhauser and Harald Krasnitzer announced their departure from RUF Tatort in 2025. We’ll tell you when you can see the latest case and what’s next for the Viennese “crime scene.”

Harald Krasnitzer and Adele Neuhauser separate

Harald Krasnitzer has played the role of Moritz Eisner in Tatort since 1999, and Adele Neuhauser joined the role of Bibi Fellner in 2011. They form one of the longest-running and popular detective duos in the series, with consistently good ratings. Their latest case will also be their 40th case together. They say that leaving was a mutual and conscious decision. “It can’t get any better,” Krasnitzer told ORF.

Here’s what we know about the farewell event

The duo’s final case is called Then We Are Heroes (directed by Christopher Shear, book by Stefan Hafner and Thomas Weingartner), and the film will likely air later in the year. How exactly Bibi and Moritz are released from prison has not yet been reported. But there is already an approximate synopsis of the case: A man unplannedly becomes not only the carrier of a stolen amount of money, but also its thief. And it just happened to be in the car of an old friend of the Viennese “Tatort”: debt collection agent Heinzi (Simon Schwartz).

In addition to Krasnitzer and Neuhauser, Hubert Kramar, nicknamed Colonel “Ernstl” Rauter, also leaves the RUF Tatort. Christina Scherrer, on the other hand, will remain with the successors of the outgoing commissioners as criminal assistant to Meret Sham.

Miriam Fussenegger and Laurence Rupp take over

In December, ORF announced who would follow in the footsteps of Neuhauser and Krasnitzer. Miriam Füssenegger will lead the special unit of the Federal Criminal Police Office as Charlotte “Charlie” Hahn. Next to her, Lawrence Rupp investigates as Alex Malecki. Special twist: these two are half-siblings.

The actors have also known each other for a long time and underwent acting training together at the Max Reinhardt seminar in Vienna in 2010. Since then, Miriam Fussenegger has achieved success not only in front of the camera (“Alles Finster”). At 25, she became the second youngest actress in Everyman at the famous Salzburg Festival. Laurence Rupp has already appeared three times in the Austrian Tatort, once as the friend of Moritz Eisner’s daughter. Rupp also got a taste of the Hollywood air in 2014’s Vienna Opera Ball scene in Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation.

Both told ORF that they are happy with their new roles in Tatorta. I am “honored and honored to join the ranks of these great actors,” Fussenegger said. And Rupp added: “Being part of the new Tatort team is amazing. I feel great humility and responsibility, but also incredible joy.”
